Jan 13th 2022 at Dad Miller Golf Course in Anaheim, CA. On a whim my wife asked me if I wanted to go out and play nine holes before the sunset and she rode along with me.
7th hole at Dad today was a downhill, 154 yard shot. Tees were moved up about 15 yards from where they usually are but the hole still plays deceptively long. I used my 7 Iron on the previous hole for an approach shot and hooked it left, so I was thinking redemption when I pulled it out of the bag for this shot.
I knew immediately off the tee that this ball had a shot. It lined slightly left of the pin and had the slightest baby fade to the right and I was thinking this is going to be an easy birdie putt. I saw the ball bounce left of the hole and vanished and I proceed to lose my mind. My wife whipped out her phone and started filming as I rush the cart up to green to inspect the hole and sure enough, there lies my Titleist Pro V1x #2 at the bottom of the cup.
Though the course was nearly empty, one of the attendants at the pro shop was playing two holes over saw what had happened and heard my commotion. He was kind enough to walk over, congratulate me, and sign my scorecard.
With my nerves shot, I shot bogey-bogey on #8 and #9 to finish and given that it was sundown on a Thursday, the course bar was already closing up when I walked up to pay for a round. Two gentlemen and the bartender joined me for a drink a few minutes before closing up.
I use to work for travisMathew so I had been playing cally Chrome Softs for the past few years, but on New Years a non-golfing friend of mine gifted me a dozen Pro V1x's. I spent the past two weeks raving about how his box has been helping my game out, so of course he's one of the first guys I tell.
I was thankful to have my wife along the way to document the occasion and snap the goofiest looking photo I might have ever taken in my life.
