On October 19, 2021, I took a good friend to Pontotoc Country Club because I’d been teasing him to get into the sport of golf. We came to the 13th hole, playing 156 yards across water to an island green from an elevated tee box. I had joked with him several times throughout the round how I had been playing the same Titleist Pro V1 ball for several rounds but I just knew I’d lose it on this hole to the water. So I tee’d my ball and said “well ball you’ve served me well”. I struck the ball with my TM P790 8 iron and hit a slight draw. The ball flight was high and it was drawing to within feet of the hole. The ball landed on the front half of the green and began to track toward the hole, until suddenly it disappeared. We both stood in silence for what felt like an hour before we could no longer contain our excitement. For some reason we ran in all directions, yelling, flipping, etc until we’d made complete fools of ourselves. Still in disbelief, we made our way to the green; where the attached photo was taken. No doubt one of the most memorable days on the course. Unfortunately, the town I live in no longer puts these achievements in the newspaper anymore but it was posted to the Club’s website and FaceBook page.
