My brother-in-law and another friend of mine booked a tee time on a Tuesday ( Nov 8 /22) at the local golf course . We belong to a seniors group that play twice a week at the Surrey golf course. When Hart ( my brother in law) asked if I wanted to play I said I could use the walk. Before heading to the course I saw an old hybrid 4 iron sitting in my study and since the weather was cool and sunny I thought I’d put it in my bag , I probably hadn’t hit it in 15 years .We turned the corner with a 42-43-44 pace and other than a 20 ft putt that fell on a par 5 for birdie the round wasn’t unusual. When we came to hole 16 , 175 yard par 3 , I pulled out that old hybrid . The pin was back in the right corner . I swung the club catching the ball a tad thin but it heading towards the centre left of the green , the ball landed just in front of the green took a big hop and rolled towards the flag, as it rolled it seemed to take forever as we all yelled encouragement. My brother in-law was bouncing up and down as my ball inched towards the hole and then finally fell in ! More good luck than skill , I’m 66 and this is my hole in one story.
