On the par-3 14th hole at Marshfield Country Club during the May member/guest tournament, I hit the shot every golfer dreams about. The hole was playing 175 yards directly into the wind, making club selection anything but easy. I pulled a 7-iron and teed up a #1 Titleist Pro V1 that had been gifted to me by my father, which made the moment feel even more meaningful. As a left-handed player, I trusted my swing and hit a perfect high draw that started just left of the pin and gently turned back toward the flag. The ball landed about five yards short of the hole, took one hop, checked beautifully, and began tracking directly toward the cup. Everyone watched in disbelief as it slowly rolled straight into the hole for an ace. The team ahead of us witnessed the entire shot and immediately erupted when the ball disappeared. My own team could hardly believe what they had just seen on such a perfect day at the course. At first, I was more nervous than excited because I thought I would have to buy drinks for all 120 players in the tournament. Thankfully, the course GM informed me that guest hole-in-ones were covered by the clubhouse, and the ace ended up winning a skin, closest to the pin, and ultimately helping carry our team to the tournament victory
