My son wants to get me something for fathers day. The only thing I can think of is possibly getting an oversized grip on my scotty cameron putter. any recommendations on grips and experiences with using both? Thanks in advance

I like a slightly oversized grip; quiets the hands especially on shorter putts. I've got 3 Scotty putters, all with baby T grips. The baby T is bigger than a pistol grip but smaller than some of the jumbo grips.
  3. Baby T is a great option but it is not an oversize grip. It is actually much smaller than the Pistolero which is a mid size grip. IF you want an oversize grip you should consider the Matador Large grip...that is truly the only oversize grip scotty offers. However, this is a relative but I have been fortunate to have played with all the grips over the years. Keep in mind that on a blade putter the Pistolero or Matador Medium is probably the largest I would go vs. a mallet the Matador Large is appropriate.

IMHO, just some random thoughts...no real right or wrong answer just go with what you like. Everyone has different preferences....

  5. The stock grip on the 2018 squareback is awesome best grip I've had in my hands.

    Scotty Cameron Matador grip.

    Hope you find the perfect!
  6. I have always been a fan of the “stock” Scotty grips but recently got a (don’t hate me) TM Spider X with a Super Stroke 1.0. I have to say, it feels really good and has tremendously helped me keep the face square at impact. Grips are really a persona preference, so just make sure you try them out and see which ones feels the most natural...who knows what you’ll end up with! Good luck and putt well!!

I had the stock grip changed on my old squareback used for a bit but it didn’t feel right and I was missing a few putts silly putts so changed it back and now we are both pals again.......

Grips really come down to personal preference and what you feel comfortable with. If you can, try out a few different sizes before picking one out. But I agree Chris92009, keep it smaller on the blade style putters.

Agree with Chris and Jordan. Smaller on the blades, for better feel. I've put the Matador on my Red X and California Del Mar. Slightly larger than the stock that they came with, but it does tend to quit the wrist action a little which is I guess why all those folks have gone to Super Strokes. A little too much for me though.

I have played with all the different scotty grips on my scotty's. I've been switching them out, trying to get a feel what works the best. It's difficult to go back to the skinny scotty after the thicker grips, but that's just me. I use more wrist motion which sometimes creates havoc. On the other hand, I started gaming an old 2004 newport with it's original grip and it worked really well - that day. Bottom line, play around and see what feels best for you. Where I live, the PGA superstore has all the grips available to try. Check it out and good luck! You can always change it out if it doesn't work.

P.S. Jack said he always used skinny grips because he didn't want to lose the feel of the putter. Of course, Tiger uses the same skinny grip he's used forever.

if you're changing the grip, please ensure the weight distribution would stay the same, or to a new balance that you wanted.
  13. Started this season correcting a couple serious iron issues from last season, and out of nowhere the putter stopped working (my use of the putter, that is). I developed a stutter in my stroke that put the ball off target line, almost every time. I changed to a Super Stroke 2.0 and it has helped quiet my hand stutter. Very happy with it.
  14. I've got the big Matador on my GOLO 5R, I have big hands so this feels great. Stuck in the Uk on lockdown, I sink every put on my lounge carpet!! Lockdown sucks....

I have 2 Scotties and I use the Large Matador on both.
  16. The Pistolero Plus is my favorite oversized grip IMHO, it is gray and feel great since the lower part of the grip is slightly built up. Just a thought...
