ive become a really serious player and would like to be able to buy a set of raw forging cb's or mb's, ap2s would be my first choice if possible. but my question here is; would titleist be able to make me a set of raw forged irons with out the chrome finish on them?????? ive asked many reps but have never gotten an answer.

but why is that? ive caddied for titleist tour players like troy matteson and a few others in pro am's and they all had these "raw forged" irons. just curious. this might be something only done for tour players though to so im not sure.
    Thank You!!

Hi Sam, Troy Matteson was the only player we had playing the raw forging and it was because he liked the look of it, not because it played differently. All the other players were playing irons that looked raw, but were brushed chrome. Now that we have the satin CB's and the MB's, he has switched to the new 712 CB irons with the satin finish.

Sam, I agree that the chromefinish is tough to look at but raw forged irons don't really have any playability advantages. The new stain finish is great to look at and provides the protection that the irons need. The thickness of the finish in no way effects the feel of the irons. Try 'em .... you'll like 'em!

hey Sam - what did you have in mind with a set of clubs like this - what benefit?  Maybe a company could accomodate you, but if the Titleist irons are good enough for the pros they are certainly good enough for us!

Hope you find what you're looking for

well, many of the pro's play with raw forged clubs. raw forging is a process where they skip the chroming of the clubs entirely and leave them as raw carbon steel. they are exactly like a vokey oil can wedge when the oil oxide comes off. it leaves a raw forged carbon club. so a set of raw forged clubs just do not have any finish on them. this makes them feel very soft off the face for unmatched feel. that is what i am looking for. i know tiger does this, troy matteson, and a ton of other players.
