I was amazed when I was able to golf on Thanksgiving this year, so much so it gave me hope that I would be able to golf on my birthday for the 1st time.  After a couple of weeks of no golf, (played 2 rounds on Nov 25) I went golfing for the 1st time Saturday Dec 10. I'm amazed how much a couple of weeks can affect your swing, I was hitting the ball 230 - 245 off the tee. I decided Sunday when I played I could do better, so with much concentration I was able to drive 250 - 280. My shins are so sore today lol, I need to rest a day but it looks like I can play tomorrow on my birthday (temps around freezing, but hey with a light sourtherly breeze, no complaints :)   ... woohooo :)

YAY for you!! Being in Minnesota I feel your excitement...although we do have snow on the ground so my clubs are packed away - Enjoy the day & Happy Birthday tomorrow!

Thank you Cathy, it was a great day.  Looks like I might be able to keep my clubs out a little longer, no snow in the forecast and high 30's (hopefully) this weekend.

    Hey Paul

I brought my clubs in yesterday, Monday low 40's sunny felt good 9-holes, Tuesday low 50's cloudy felt cold 18-holes, Wednesday 60's sunny 18 holes in short sleeves.

Right now 7am Thursday, 57* and rain, clubs will be staying inside.

We keep getting these blasts of warm weather then rain cooling back down.

Monday you couldn't make a ball mark, couldn't fix one either, Tuesday you could make a little mark, yesterday the ball plugged.

    Hi Quintin

You know, if I had half a brain I probably would have brought my clubs in the end of October when "Hit and Stick" on the greens was no longer an option on approach shots.  I love to play, I enjoy a challenge almost as much as the game itself.  Through the season I play in rain (sometimes quite heavy), we get days in South Dakota where the wind gusts over 50 mph, I play then too.

Shortly after they closed the clubhouse for the season, they plugged the holes on the green and marked them with small red flags, I use a "portable hole" from a "Golf Pool" game that my daughter got me a couple of years ago at Christmas (I finally found a use for them lol).  It took some getting used to hitting in front of the green and letting the ball roll (and bounce) to the hole, but I find it almost as enjoyable.  I guess the important thing for me is, I get to keep working my swing, in the Spring I know how far I hit my Irons, so "Hit and Stick" will be easy to get used to again.

Thanks for the comment.   Hope you have a great off season :)

I played as much as possible last winter, I fudge on my 40* rule sometimes......sun out, no wind, maybe go as low as 35*.

I play in the rain.......in the summer, too likely to get sick in the winter.

After this morning it hasn't rained much, but I had already decided to hit the weights and run. I'll probably stay with working out this winter(mostly, depends on the weather).

I normally don't carry an umbrella because it is too much of a hassle, but yesterday I bought a SunMountain cart, it has a tube that clips under the frame, pull it out and screw it into the handle then put the umbrella handle into it......this can be a sun shade too.
