Apologies for a feeling sorry for myself post, but what a lousy year. While I don’t play to the level of many here, holy smokes, my game is in the toilet. Especially on and around the greens.

But, in perspective, good problems to have. At least I’m able to get out on the course and gripe about inequities in the game that ultimately fall on my lack of skill.

Just hoping that the rest of the TT community, and their families, are safe and well.

Be safe and wish to tee it up with all of you one day.

No worries, George... no sorry in golf. You can always have more rounds in the future and maybe even work on it for the brighter side.

    Nice avatar- where was that?

Yep, surprised my handicap index only rose two points. Have not played or practiced very much this year. You would think living on a golf course and now working from home I would be playing more but it seems harder now to step away from the laptop and get on the course. Hoping to turn that around soon but now the days are getting shorter. I think I will just accept that my quality of play will be below average for a while and just have as much fun as I can, being out there and playing. Have fun George. Better days ahead.

Feel the pain. Have only played golf twice since December. In and out of physical therapy after back surgery. Just working my butt off trying to get my body back in shape, core an legs so I can enjoy this wonderful game again. With the COVID somewhat controlling our lives and good time to get fit and when the doctors give me the green light to return to the putting green, then the driving range, the the course. Have always felt that you have to crawl, then walk, before you can run. Golf is a game of ups and downs and we all suffer at times regardless of the level of our game. A good place to start is by seeing an instructor who will work with the talent that you have and steer you in the right direction. Once my doctors release me to use the range, I will call my teacher to find some of what use to be before these small inconveniences. No worries, pal, a PGA pro is can help you with you issues. Wish I could at least get out on the course. You have one step up on me. Cheers and golf is about having fun.

Sorry man, rought year. You prompted me to look at my posted rounds this year and am excited to say that I am currently at 78.
  6. Golf is the great equalizer. Sorry to hear about the game this year...but that means 2021 is going to be a definite growing point for your overall game. If you love golf, and we all do, it’s not always the score we are after. Friends, experiences, distractions from the chaos...that’s more important than penciling in a coveted 79.

I got to get out and play for the first time in over a year last weekend. We had a baby April 2019 and I haven’t been able to play since then, until the wife surprised me with the tee time reservation!
  10. George, I hear you. For the first time in a few years, the decks were clear to really put in some rounds. Alas, COVID hit and put a damper on that. Not to worry, better days ahead, and, remember for your short game, my momma always told me a peep show was never worth it.

George 2020 is not a typical year......

2019 gave me only 8 rounds for the year, 2020 so far has been better with 24 rounds since April. Plus my game is finally responding & I took a lesson this year and now my hdcp that in the last 4 years went from a 13 to 21.8 is back on the down turn at 17. Hopefully getting even better by the end of the season.

Golf is always a work in progress so I see 2021 being a better year for you and many others once we figure out the new norm for the game we love to play.

Hang in there it will always get better,

Man, it is hard, we are still playing almost every week, but I had set my goal to 70+ rounds this year, I played 21 so far, which is not bad, but I feel that working from home, with a job that does not have too many time constraints, I should have been on the course a lot more, we still got a few weeks, maybe 8 or 10 before it starts snowing and courses closing here in Michigan, so fingers crossed.
Otherwise, lets stay hopeful for next year.

There is some hope for me this year, I got the yellow light from my PT doctor this week. Looks like I can start hitting golfs balls around Christmas. I'll take it, I'll take it......

4 rounds here...3 pre-pandemic and 1 last week. I didn't host any TT events and hanging Christmas lights starting in Oct this year so my final round count for the year is that compared to 70+ a year normally! Staying safe and healthy to play more rounds next year!

I read these posts and see low rounds played but almost every one of my 40+ rounds has been close to 4 hours mostly due to heavy traffic on the course. Plenty of people are playing and I know because I have been behind them waiting! It's good for the course revenue (I imagine) as at least in the Triangle area of NC rounds played must be up.
