    Good day all,

Has anyone added an extra half inch extension to their clubs for a little bit of extra club speed and perhaps a couple of extra yards? I ran the idea by my fitter and he did not seem to have problem with it as long as I could control it. At least that is what he told me…

    Thanks,

Yes. Pretty common fitting adjustment but needs to be done by an experienced club fitter. Before doing a whole set I recommend trying out and comparing a club if you can. Personally, when fitted for irons we tried it and I gained just a bit more distance and I really liked the flight, but dispersion numbers went up so went back to standard length.

The fitter was right. If dispersion and consistency don’t suffer, it works. Check where you make contact before and after you add the extension.
Since I like to use more of the face than dead center, I shorten the shaft to 44.75 from 45.5 to minimize offline adventures.

No problem! Maybe a half point swingweight increase which very few people can feel and a VERY slight increase in shaft flex. Longer than half an inch is more problematic because the lie can be an issue.
