First of all, thanks to Titleist and Lisa Maybruch for putting this together, TPI has been a bucket list for a while, and I am not only thankful to have been able to check it off, but to do it this way. We started the morning at the Assembly Facility at Loker and given a tour of all things Titleist. Good news fellow lefties, I was told that in the not too distant future, any Scotty that’s available in RH will be available in LH (with the exception, for now, of the Ltds.). Seeing the team assembling our gear was awesome, and I can’t wait for them to start on my new clubs. Then we drove over to TPI, started with a little lunch and a great Q&A with Josh and Marni, and talking also about what’s coming. They obviously couldn’t get into details, but sounds exciting. After lunch it was my turn to get fit, and I was set up with Travis Johnson, who is a master of Trackman data, and was very comprehensive not only in finding the right clubs for me, but also in explaining with the data exactly why it was right. I ended up with T250 5 iron, and T150 6-GW with Project X Red S shafts. I also, based on his data ordered a new GT2 7 wood, and a 58K from the Vokey Design Wedges experience. After that, it was off to my TPI body assessment, and while it was really an interesting process to go through, I believe I failed (scored a 34, out of what, I do not know, lol). Kayleigh was very thorough, and I can’t wait for the follow up via zoom to see what next steps I can take to improve. Finally, the team at TPI set up the short course for us to play, it criss-crossed across the facility and is pretty challenging. Took me a few holes to get used to the turf-club interaction (not the same soft ground we have here in FL) but I made more than a few nice shots (couldn’t buy a putt though). Friday, a few of us met up with Lisa and Allan Blocker to play the North course at La Costa and it was beautiful. I played back tees with my group, so it was challenging, but I played well overall and made a couple nice birdies. Also had a chance to visit the Scotty Cameron Gallery, once with a good friend and fellow TT'er, and I went back on Saturday to hang out with Chad Colby and Jacqueline, and to have lunch and check out Encinitas while we were there. Sorry for the wall of text, but it was a phenomenal visit. If you have the chance to do a TT event, or to visit TPI, definitely go for it.
