  1. Abdon,

That's awesome! Have a great time. There are places to visit off property like the quaint town of Carmel which is a nice break from all the golfing activities you will experience at the resort.

Make sure and plan ahead as they currently have a backlog of reservations they're dealing with because of the pandemic related closures.

During my visit to the resort, there were at least 3 different large corporate groups having events on property, so non-event related tee times were tough to find.

Looks like fun. My wife keeps threatening to take me there just for the experience, but we're a bit cheap so we usually end up playing in the Rocklin/Roseville/Lincoln triangle.

If you're driving from Reno, NV, you should check out The Ridge in Auburn. It's usually in very good shape and challenging. I don't live too far from that "triangle" you describe.

The Ridge, Timber Creek, Whitney Oaks, Turkey Creek. My winter hangouts when I can afford a tank of gas. Might not be Pebble Beach, but I enjoy them as much as anywhere 18 flags are stuck in the ground.

The courses around Truckee aren't bad. I always enjoy playing Coyote Moon and Old Greenwood.

    Great pics, Abdon.

    It's definitely on my bucket's list :)
  12. I have not seen the Hay, what is everyone's impression of it if you have played it?

I believe the Pebble Beach Resort is following the trend with what I call post round activities like putting and par 3 courses. I was impressed with what the Tiger Design group put together and from my observation, everyone playing the course while I was there, was having a great time. The addition of the restaurant at The Hay was a great idea as what they had before wasn't much.

For those who have played The Preserve at Bandon, IMO it's better than The Hay.

did you stay and play other courses there or just Pebble? Debating on just doing the two nights to play the course and then maybe come up another time and stay elsewhere and play the rest.

We played Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill. We were there for a 2 night stay. There are many options in the area for a 2 night stay.

I booked a Tee Time in August, they are aerating the greens, it’ll be the third day, but only have to pay $395 so going for it. I think the others are also doug the aeration so haven’t decided if i want to play them also or go play another course somewhere else.

3 days post punching might be a bit rough. Are other parts of the course aerated or is it just the greens? Hopefully the fog stays away, and you get to enjoy the spectacular views.

Do all the caddies look like that or did you just get lucky?

:-) All the caddies are independent contractors at the Pebble Beach Resort. The one I had only loops for one person ;-)
  22. I am going next spring with a group from our men's club. It was scheduled for this year, but due to them pushing back reservations, we delayed a year. We are playing Del Monte, Spyglass Hill, Pebble Beach, and Spanish Bay. It will be my first time going there, absolutely cannot stand the wait!!

That's a great line-up and make sure you take time to enjoy the sights. After one of your rounds, you should consider playing The Hay; it's a fun place to end your day and reminisce on all the great shots you made.

If you have room for an extra round, check out Poppy Hills. It's on the 17 Mile drive property and they accept public play...as an added plus, it's more "affordable" than PB and Spyglass. Have a great time.

Not a resort and as grandeur as the courses that are in high demand but I found Pacific Grove Municipal back nine to be a very fun and scenic track. Easy on the pocketbook and have heard it called the poor man's pebble beach. Last time we drove down from San Francisco, after doing some whale watching and stayed at a B&B in Pacific Grove and found their pro shop to be well stocked. Did not take my clubs on that visit, promised my wife a non-golf vacation. It is such a great area with so much to do and great places to eat, I survived. Saw three whales. What a treat.

Good on you CZ...keep your better half happy. The Monterey area is a great place for golfers and non-golfers. Hopefully the next time you're there, you can sneak out for an early tee time while your spouse is enjoying a nice spa treatment ;-).
