  1. After much humming and haa-ing, I have swapped out my 17' 818 for an 18' TS2 5-wood. While I've done pretty well with earlier Titleist hybrids, I never truly fell in love with this one. Maybe the Tensei Blue shaft was the issue or maybe the look of the club behind the ball but it was never my darling. Always prone to be a bit cutty, it was also low-flying. I know it's meant to be a runner but I think it looks better if it goes above head height. Think the 5 will be more inclined to hold greens as it climbs like a rocket and lands like a feather. I'm already madly & deeply over the 5 wood. Driver, 3wood & 5wood now all have Project X Hzrdus and I'm a happy bunny (yes, I may be OCD - I do like things matching...) T-MB3 iron is on its way to the loft and I've told my T-MB4 iron that it will go the same way at the end of August if the U500/U510 lives up to expectations. Anyone else dumped the hybrids??

  2. A lot of people seem to use the TS 5 woods. They look amazing!
  3. Alex,
Try one if you get the chance - it's a delight.

Interestingly Justin Thomas said he felt the TS 5 wood was too hot for him and uses an older Titleist 5 wood.

Don't think that's a problem I'm likely to have to confront....

Look at the tour players bag, more and more switching back from hybrids to 5 wood or even a 7 wood. I also think about that.

I play a 16.5 and 21 TS2. Never liked hybrids, and the 21 is incredibly easy to hit and very versatile

Good choice. I hit my 4 iron nearly the same distance than my 21° 818H1 Hybrid. I like to demo the new U510 4 Driving iron. If this works i will change my hybrid to a 5 wood and set to 18.75 or 19.5°.
  9. Ricky,
    So that's almost like a 4wood + 7wood combination... I can see the attraction...
Does that mean your top iron is the 5iron??
    I carry a T-MB 4iron at present - at least until U500/U510's come on-stream - which I'd be reluctant to leave out.
I use it in a utility sort of way (tee & fairway).

I’ve yet to try the TS fairway woods but I can’t see my 818 hybrids being replaced .. they’re just so versatile and easy to use!

That is until the TS hybrids come out and I replace my 18* hybrid with some slightly lower lofted hopefully.

If I get the chance I may have to give a 5 wood a go after all this hype!

I have been thinking the same for a while just need to go get fitted for the 5 wood maybe in September at the Team Titleist day if there’s a opportunity?

Have you noticed much in distance change at all?
  12. Simon,
Trackman data in fitting seemed to indicate that the 5 wood was marginally longer and - as you'd expect - significantly higher in flight.
The interesting part for me was that it confirmed my "feeling feedback" that I was striking it better, more consistently, with the wood. Combine that with improved accuracy and I'm sold.

5 wood is a bit longer and ball flight is higher. From the rough a hybrid plays better but nothing feels better as 5 or 7 wood from the fairway on a Par 5. Another option for the bag is a 5 wood with 18 to 19° and a hybrid with 21°.
