  1. Hi team,

Anyone experience any issues with the new brushed steel finish wearing off new wedges?

I’ve had mine for about a month and the finish on my 56 degree has worn off considerably, even in places that don’t interact with the ground. Hasn’t been an issue with the other wedges I got.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what you’ve done about it?

  5. Looks great but why did you do that to the black wedges? Were they wearing too soon? I have the SM7 50/54/58 in the Black LTD. thanks

Jay, the pictures looked terrific. Can you explain exactly how you did this?
    Steps?

If you like the old oil can or black finish wedges you can soak them in Coca-Cola and that should help make them raw as long as it's not a plated finish like chrome-satin chrome etc.

The brushed steel looks to be a color coating added on top of the chrome or something that's added to chrome. I'm guessing its going to happen from bag chatter etc. I think its just the cost of not having a raw finish or straight satin or high polish chrome and it just nicks the color off the wedge.

Interested to hear if the wear is normal for that brushed finish, Andrew.

Jay H - Great job on the raw! Love it.

Those look awesome jay h!! I have the steel gray in my sm6’s, don’t like the glare from the chrome!! Thought about ordering the raw wedges, but those look awesome!!

Your process to get them look like that would be greatly appreciated!!

Mine are just wearing like that on the faces which I guess is normal. I'll keep checking... Has Titleist commented on this?
  14. Hey man I bought the same ones and after one round the sole is almost completely faded... Wow Titleist.

Anyways did you ever find out how to make it look raw?
  15. Did it myself. Put the clubs inside of a jar of vinegar... Only waited an hour or so then used 600 sandpaper and the stuff just came right off... Then used a 1000 sand paper to touch it up. Someone had recommended those grains and it worked well. I have cobra Mb cb so I had the orange as a paint fill but going to go all black like the other guy who posted his picture above.

  16. Did soaking in vinegar have any effect on the ferrels/epoxy?? Want to try this but then again don’t want to disassemble the heads. Thanks

  18. Ooo I'm glad you showed this I was thinking about getting a custom sm7 so I don't really be wanting to take the finish of at a later date. Probs will end up going chrome now.
  19. I have an sm6 brushed steel. It was showing wear and discoloration. What I did was use a brass wire wheel on the end of my cordless drill. Cleaned it up like new !!!
  20. I think it's just a clear varnish. Probably used to prevent any 'rusting' whilst waiting to be purchased.
Easy to remove. I'm surprised no one from Vokey has commented yet, maybe they should add a comment about it on their sales blurb.

My 58 is brushed steel and it looks bad after having it for 2-3 months. If I strip the finish off w/ vinger or coke, can I torch it?

I tried to put a touch to mine, and it didn't work. Could have been the wrong type of gas, not getting enough heat to actually turn the coloring
  23. My custom SM7's

    What do you think?

The Vokeys look great. Interesting what the vinegar solution did to the finish. Some years ago i took an old png beryllium copper wedge, put it in a bucket and poured in a bottle of coca-cola.

The wedge came out as bright as a shiny penny.
  30. Hey! How are the clubs now, have they had any rust of? Really keen to do this to mine!

    Thank you
