Simplest way I know to hit more greens on your approach shot is to aim for the middle of the green and in most cases take one extra club. Most amateurs end up short of the green vs long.

My pro is working with me on this. Most people has a tendency to use the upper muscles (their arms) instead of their body and pull the ball. He is working with me to extend my arms, let my body/hips do the work, to aim right of the flag and to finish at the target with my hands. Hope this makes sense. Have not played in five months and working my way back from PT. We have a lot of work on. Good point swing at 80 with less club. Working on that right now, also until I get my strength back.

Agree with earlier comments -GIR is definitely a huge indicator of your potential score. I've worked a ton on scrambling since I only hit about 40% GIR. I've found i put too much pressure on myself to hit every green, which is unrealistic. I'd say pick a point on the green that gives you the most margin of error for your typical miss, and then swing at 80% confidently. Commit to your shot and give yourself the best chance in case of a miss.
