Feeling optimistic about the 2017 season! This offseason I've been in the gym working on strength, stability, and flexibility. I've also started working with a new swing coach to improve my full swing consistency with drills focusing on wrist acceleration and proper release. Also I have been working a side-job as an editor while staying busy as a med student to hopefully reward myself with new Titleist clubs/gear.
  2. I need to spend twice the time on my chipping and pitching than anything else. I tend to get my driver out and practice full swings on the driving range and a minimal amount of time on the chipping/pitching - that is my weak point so I need to do that first, last and in the middle of everything else. I can spend hours on drills on the putting green, I don't understand why I can't come up with some fun drills for chipping and pitching. So, that is the goal. Better 50 yards and in.

    Hi,
My plan is fairly simple - play more golf!!. My son has a weekly lesson which allows me 90 minutes of practice but I have struggled at times to take my range game to the course. Having said that I have dropped my handicap to single figures for the first time this past season and with 2 new SM6 in the bag I intend to keep it there!

Working on fitness/flexibility over the winter, turned 50 recently. Really going to work on my short game going into spring, full swing seems to be good.

Equipment wise, I drove the ball great after I got my 917D3, best driver I have had to date. Also picked up SC Newport, SM6 wedges in the fall, all have been great.
  5. My 2017 goals started last year getting in better shape and getting my handicap down from a 3 to a 0.6. Cause my 2017 goal is to play in the US Open qualifier, which i'm pretty excited about. and its at a course that is very close to me and i have played really well in the past. It will be my first tournament in years so i'm not expecting to much, Just not to embarrass myself and go have some fun.

With winter fast upon us in the "Frozen Tundra", I will spend a majority of my time working on flexibility and working on putting. I just recently picked up a Birdie Ball putting mat and have been spending time working on setup and pace. I am fortunate that my club has a simulator and will try and hit balls in it 2 times a week. Once the Spring rolls around and I can hit balls outside I will move to improved on the short game. For the balance of the year I am targeting getting my handicap down to a single digit.

I am also looking forward to getting back the money I lost to Hot Sauce and Speedy at the Team Titleist Invitational at Pinehurst.

With plenty of practice and a full bag of Titleist, I think this achievable.

Love it! Looking forward to that challenge Professor :)

My goal is just to have more fun and work on my game some more especially short game and putting.. Boy did i lose A LOT of strokes last year from that alone... 120 in is my target and need to really concentrate on that more on the range.. And I signed up for more lessons with the same guy i've been going to the last 2-3 years... It's been a blast...

Good luck to all the TT members!

Since taken up golf in 2016 at the age of 45, my goal is to break 90 during 2017. My plan to get there includes; bi-monthly lessons and visiting the range at least twice a week. Additionally, I set a goal for myself to play no less than 24 rounds during the year.

A secondary goal is to play as many different courses as possible during the year. Living in North Texas, there are a lot of great courses around me that I can't wait to play.
  11. Hi and happy New Years Abby and team Titleist members,

My 2017 plan is to continue working with my swing coach and playing more rounds (vs just more range time). My goal is to break 80 which I've come close to doing many times. I've never owned any Titleist clubs before but now my main bag is almost all Titleist...915 D3, 915F 3 wood, 716 AP2s, SM5 wedges!

2016 was a pretty good year for me, played 172 rounds where I kept score and probably another 20-30 practice rounds that I don't count. We left Ohio late October for Alabama and I played three days at Muscle Shoals and played very well. Got to our destination on Dauphin Island and on my second round here I pulled something, I had hernia repair surgery in 2015 and I'm afraid that I must have pulled the mesh loose or something. Doc said to not play for a while. So I have put the clubs away until we return to Ohio in April. Hopefully this will pass. So my goal is to begin play in April without pain.

Hit more fairways and practice more often.
  15. This is the first year that I have entered into the competitive nature of golf. I started in July and was shooting an average of 115 (embarrassing to admit). I've been practicing on the course as much as possible rain or shine but now that it's cold here in the NE I'm focusing on my swing m, pure contact, and short game. At the end of the season I played my last nine holes and shot a 41. So for this season I'm planning on jumping in head first so to speak. I'm going to play as many individual one day tournaments as I can in the CT golf league. And play as many events as I can at my home course. I like the way it was said in the post before mine. That lessening the amount of pressure by increasing the number of chances is a good approach. Hopefully I'll be able to add a hole in one story to your list soon. I'm carefully optimistic but with my practicing, my new coach, and dedication, I hope that you'll hear more stories from me soon.

Practice more and temper anger towards next shot and not letting it affect my score.

Returned to golf in 2015 after around 4/5 years out of the game, returned off my old handicap of 5.5 and have stayed there over the last year crept up to 6.0 and now back down to 5.5 my goal for 2017 is to get into the 3.somthings!

Bag is all set, happy with all my clubs (all titleist)

I've had tendinitis since July and haven't been able to swing a club since then. I'm getting better, so my first priority is to at least get back on the driving range. From there, it's shorten up my backswing and quiet the lower half of my body. Focus on accuracy and not distance.

My goal in 2017 is to shoot my age - 73. I'm close but need to improve fitness and fine tune three areas of my game; more precise irons, better accuracy of wedge shots and improved putting. At the end of 2016, I changed wedges to SM6 with some minor changes on loft/bounce. I also bought a new Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2 and am putting a little better over the final six rounds of 2016. I look forward to adjustments with the new wedges. One stroke improvement with iron precision, one with wedges and one with putting and I'm easily there. Better fitness will reduce distance loss due to aging. It's going to be a good year!
  20. Getting older (71) and losing strength-especially after a stroke 6years ago. My drives are much shorter but usually in the middle-longer second shot but now I have learned to adapt and go to longer irons or hybrids. Thinking about the local fitness center to regain strength and flexibilaty. Wife and I play every day but living in northern Illinois you are limited in the winter. I'll survive and get better. I really love this game with a 16 handicap I expect to get better AMEN
  21. I tracked my approach shots from 100 yds and I was consistently short, my goal this year is to get it to pin high with my wedges.
