I would love to walk 9 or better 18 but I am still suffering from plantar fasciitis which started 7 months ago. I am almost well but this has been an 9 to 12 month ordeal for me most of my adult life.

I focus better walking, as I have time to evaluate my shot prior to reaching my ball. I look over the hole as I approach my ball and once I arrive I have a planned shot already in mind, with the exception of what the lie is. Now the down side, everyone I play with does not like the idea of walking and won't walk even 9 holes. I walked 18 on 5/12/17 shot 78 finished the round with 1 other person in 3hrs, last 2 rounds this weekend in a cart were 89/88. they won't let me walk because they say it slows down their play. I guess I'll just look for someone to play with at the course who is walking........

Just cancelled my cart plan at my club.. got a clicgear 3.5 pushcart recently & absolutely love it.. great exercise & feel I play better at the slower pace.. not too slow of pace, but slow enuff to appreciate being on the course w/ great friends
  4. I love it! For certain, us "older" TT Community members need to ditch the cart for 9 hole!

I've always walked and to be honest don't really enjoy using a buggy. I feel walking is a part of the game of golf for me and just enjoying getting out in a nice peaceful environment. And getting out with friends makes it even better!
  6. I hate having to ride. It definitely messes with my game. I don't get the guys that never want to walk. You aren't truly a golfer if you ride all the time.

I've almost always ridden. But mainly because I wasn't a member anywhere so most of my play time came during courses busiest hours and it was required to ride (many courses mistakenly believe that it'll be faster).

However I joined a private club this year and many / most of the members walk. League night (for the men at least) is nearly entirely walkers (160 guys). I've walked more golf this year than I have in my life and I've only played a few rounds so far (darn crazy spring).

I walk when I can, unless the course has a cart only policy. I carry my clubs, love to walk because for me, it slows the game down and lets my enjoy it, not race around or to the next shot. Plus walking while playing is a great way to stay healthy.

I prefer walking over riding, besides if it is a long tournament. I seem to play better walking by taking my time and think about hitting my next shot walking to the ball instead of just wizzing by with a cart.
