Hey everyone, looking for some opinions. I have been using the Sky Caddie app for about 10 years now to keep track of my scores and stats. I have become increasingly frustrated with it lately. The updates are infrequent, terrible and it’s still not really compatible with my iPhone X. Customer service has been horrendous in answering questions as well. I find it unacceptable for a service that I am paying for. My subscription is about to expire and I will not renew it. So, I am looking for alternatives. Does anyone use Golfshot or 18Birdies? If so, what do you like/dislike about them? Are either worth the money? Thanks as always #teamtitleist as you are the people I trust the most!

  2. I've been using The Grint for over a year now. The free version captures putts, GIR, and FIR, and the GPS view is from actual overhead images, with not only distance to center of green, but will also display distances for front of green and back from of green.

I will often ask others what app they are using, and I will hear all different names, so there's a lot out there. 18Birdies is probably the most common, but that's maybe 1 out of 10.
  3. My buddy uses Offcourse. I've never seen it or worked with it, but could be another option.

I just keep them in a spreadsheet, which in turn I have another with course information, and hook it up to a visualization tool for graphing, trending, etc. It's all stuff I have on hand for work, so it's really. Just wish I had a better sample size for more accurate analysis.

I have the free version of 18Birdies just for score keeping/stat tracking, I don't use the GPS unless I'm trying to figure out the layout of a blind hole or something, so I can't speak to the accuracy of the GPS as far as yardages go. The stats it keeps in the free version seem to be pretty good compared to the other apps out there, I'd recommend at least checking out the free version.

I used SwingxSwing for a while until my wife got me a Bushnell Rangefinder for Christmas. SwingxSwing tracks basic stats for free and a few others with the paid subscription. Same with yardages, it will give you middle of the green for free but gives multiple rings on the green for the paid version. The best part of the paid version is the “plays like” distance which takes wind speed and elevation into play.

I use Offcourse. I'll keep track on the scorecard and later on i'll enter it on the Offcourse app. It's free... Has Drive accuracy, approach accuracy, putting avg, sand save %, sand hit %, penalty %. Basic stuff.

  8. I also use the Grint and would definitely recommend it for keeping stats. Very easy to enter on the course on the course or after. Just enter the score, the number of putts, if you hit the fairway or what direction you missed, and any penalties/traps you encountered. Gives a good breakdown of where your misses are, especially nice for par 3's and hit percentages based on the distance of the hole. It also keeps a USGA handicap if the leader of your "club" takes the necessary tests, and your scores are attested by someone on the app. It will still track your handicap regardless of those other features, it is just would not count as an approved USGA handicap.

My favorite feature revolves around the social interaction of the app (typical millennial right?). All of my golf buddies use the app and it works like of like a facebook timeline of all of your friend's recent rounds where you can like and comment on. You can also follow friends round live if you are at home really bored. You can also set up games if you are playing in a 4 some, or have multiple 4 somes which can also be used as a live leaderboard on the course. They have trophies for certain milestones like most birdies in a round, lowest score, lowest putts. It becomes addicting and I now start every round with the trophy chasing mentality. Still searching for that B3B (3 birdies in a row).

I haven't used either of these yet.
I started this year with arccos 360, got the sensors earlier in the season.
I have started making better decisions on the course, it is slowly paying off.
The only issues I have had, was the first time I played my home course, a couple of the holes were incorrect, the course was remodeled last year, but I contacted them on a Monday, by Saturday the course was updated.
The only other issue which wasn't with the app, but my phone's Bluetooth, so it wouldn't detect the sensors I'm getting a replacement phone from the manufacturer soon.
