Finally making the trip over to Kiawah late March. Unfortunately the Ocean Course books up 60 days in advance and we booked around 58 days out. Ocean was fully booked that entire weekend. So no Ocean course. (guess this is a good excuse to come back)

I'm curious opinions on the courses there and if you have played any of them.

Playing: Osprey Cougar Oak Muni River Course

Any food recs that are a must have while on the island? Pumped to check out Muni!!

    Thanks all

I’m actually going to be there next week for 5 rounds, one on all the courses including the Ocean. Getting pretty excited to play them all. Weather looks to be somewhat in the middle except for the last two days, which look really nice.
  3. I have played the Ocean Course. You are in for a wonderful experience. Enjoy your time there.

The TT event played the Osprey as well as the Ocean course. It is marshland with lots of opportunities to wash balls. The gators are present but stayed in the water. There were 2 that lived in the pond between the 10th tee and the clubhouse. Forgot their names. The course was in good shape but is a low country course.

Kiawah is one of my favorite places. Osprey and cougar are awesome. I loved turtle point as well. Never played muni. I’d keep checking the ocean course, maybe someone will cancel. Same thing happened to me and I called when I got down there. They had a last minute cancellation and were able to get me out. Watch out for those gators. I had one hiss at me when I went looking for a ball near the water. Nearly had an accident in my pants, lol. Have a great trip

I saw the Muni. I assume you are talking about Charleston Municipal. Golf.com has ranked it #19 of the top 30 municipals in the US. The greens are tough as well are the bunkers. The greens are still immature and do not hold shots. I play there three days a week. I use to be a 10 handicapper there and index has gone up 9 points since the remake. Water comes into play on 12 holes and well placed and even hidden bunkers on the fairways offer precise drives on #5, #9, #10, #13, #17, and #18. Hole 3 has a burn rurning at a 45* angle in the landing area, if you miss hit your drive from any tee box. A lot of false fronts, no flat grees. Some of the bunkers offer interesting shots with some being as deep as 12 feet deep and grass lined. The designer used some of Seth Raynor's offerings that were used on the Country Club of Charleston and Yeaman's Hall from the late 20's. Best advice do not shoot at the flags, and they are short and are not marked red/white/blue. Bring a good range finder, because the course is not marked. Choose the tees you play according to your handicap. It is going to be tough enough, without making it any tougher. Oh have fun, they do have a beverage cart after 1030am. Some of us still love our muni, others curse it every day and the designer. =)

The muni was freaking awesome! I loved the experience. I'm a golf nerd and really appreciate the template style holes. I thought the layout was a really nice mix up from the resort courses. Had 3 birdies and 4 doubles ha!

We were lucky enough to play River and Cassique - woah those were incredible!
  8. Always try for last minute cancellations at Ocean course, they have a 48 hour cancellation policy so check 2 days in advance and you may get lucky! Have fun!

I’ve played all of them and Ocean is my Fave and Osprey comes in second for me. Every time I play Ocean I do so well on the front. My lowest round there on the back tees with a caddy was 34. Having a caddy came in clutch on those greens. For some reason, the back nine always gets me…..I’ve not shot lower than a 46…this is why I love this game.
