I carry a stand bag and use the Club Glove Collegiate travel bag. Previously carried the players 4 and had a issue with bent stand legs from the point where the hard back of the travel bag ends and mesh material ends.

For this I used a flatted cardboard box (shipping box from swoosh shoes) and placed a bed of big bubble wrap on it and place it directly on the stand legs so that the pressure is spread evenly in case the bag is mishandled.

When dealing with my clubs I will remove all metal wood heads and place in headcovers and place in my carry-on or backpack. My irons/wedges I flip the clubs and place the clubs upside down with one towel at the bottom around the heads and another around the grips.

Doing so leaves a huge void at the top in which I will normally just place golf clothes and other clothing in that area so the bag sits firm.

I've used this method with my Players 4 Carbon and the legs held up!

Players 4 Carbon has graphite (carbon) legs that are much more durable than the aluminum legs on all the other stand bags. Good tip with the cardboard. I use pvc pipe as the TSA inspectors have sometimes laid the bag back in sideways were the legs were then exposed along the soft side of the cover in those rare cases where I use the Club Glove instead of the SKB.

I, too, use the Club Glove Collegiate. Fly with my clubs 4-5x per year. I remove all wood heads and carry them in their headcovers in my carryon. I fill the top of the bag with towels and such.

I also have the Sun Mountain Meridian! I had a “regular” travel bag that you pull, but then I was in Phoenix and I saw a woman pushing it effortlessly. Another few tips:

- Buy a backbone…it helps.
- Take the head off of your driver.
- Wrap a towel or two around the rest of your clubs that are above the bag. Helps cushion them a bit from aggressive baggage handlers.

The Meridian bag is a little more pricey, but well worth it in my opinion. Enjoy the trip!

My trick with the Club Glove Collegiate is to remove heads from woods/hybrids and wrap the irons with a couple towels, then put on the rain cover (Players 4). This keeps everything pretty tightly packed and prevents the irons from banging around. And the stiff arm/backbone is a must have.

The PVC pipes over the legs is a great idea!
