I love my (ancient!) 50-degree Vokey raw steel wedge. Will the SM8 give me the same grab that I get from the raw steel?

Is there a grind that is versatile enough to work for both full shots and finesse chips around the green?

Fit for Vokey wedges 5 years ago, am thinking about a new set this year. Will there be any playing or ball striking adjustments I will need to make for the SM8 compared to my current Vokey wedges? Also, my current set is a 60, 56 bent to 55, 52 bent to 51. If I choose to also get new irons, are there any adjustments you would recommend given that new irons seem to be strong lofted

How important is the correct shaft to the wedge?

In looking at the SM8 it appears that there is various hosel lengths, can you go into further detail as to the reason for this and what it does for performance of the club?

What is your favorite grind in the higher lofts?

Since most amateurs don't have the luxury of matching bounce angle to playing conditions, i.e. loose vs firm sand, extra tight lies, etc., how should they configure their wedges? All the same based on swing or a mix, maybe a gap wedge with mid bounce, sand wedge with high bounce and lob wedge with me bounce?

I wonder about what bounces I should use for various turf conditions. Wet lies seem to require more bounce and dry less so, though I am uncertain here. How much more or less bounce for typically wet or dry conditions is right, and should one reduce or add loft to the clubs used then to produce the best results? I guess the big question is the trade-offs of conditions to bounce and loft. Thanks for your help! Jay

Bob, what are the deltas, the quantifiable improvements in the SM8 vs. SM7?

Bob—I was fitted for my SM 7 wedges which I love. When I move to the SM8’s, can I go with the lofts and bounces of my SM7’s or should I go through another fitting? Appreciate all you do for the game!

I'm probably the coolest guy to even play your wedges, I have a huge following on social media and all around this country. I have SM6 Wedges that I was fitted for by a very capable club fitter at Golf Mart Encinitas. I'm very happy with them but would almost give my left nutt to win this contest and come in to be fitted for the new wedges. I'm currently a 6 index and trying to get better with my short game to gain strokes. I currently have 4 wedges in the bag, Titleist CB Pitching Wedge, Vokey 50, 54, and 60. I have played Vokey for probably close to 20 years now and will not consider any other brand wedges.

Good Morning Mr. Vokey,

I have only been golfing for a year but have been bit badly by the golf bug . I got a really late start as I am already 41. What advantages would the SM8 wedges provide me over the previous vokey wedge versions? I am currently playing Cleveland rtx 3 wedges but am not happy with how they feel. I did hit a few vokeys a friend has but I haven't asked what version they are. I enjoyed them much more than my wedges. Thanks for your time!
