  1. As you open the face are the clubs designed to be swung more out to in?
  2. Bob,

What is the most forgiving grind/bounce SM8s in a 54 and 58 degree for a 15 handicapper? Asking for a friend...

I currently have SM6 54-08M and SM6 58-08M but is does not look like these configurations are available with the new SM8. True?
  4. What kind of groves do your wedges have

    Mr, Vokey,
Do you recommend matching wedge shafts to the iron shafts?
    Thanks,
    Mike
  6. I am one armed golfer, using Vokey SM5 52,56, and 60. I play right handed, using my left arm ( backhanded ). Should I have different bounce considerations, than a 2 handed golfer?
  7. I play golf year-round in the pacific northwest. The turf here is usually water logged and I was wondering which bounce& grind I should consider. I am left-handed and a sweeper of the ball, I currently have a 52 and 58° Vokey wedge in my bag.

If you were trying to inspire one word or thought as a player stands over a shot with your wedge in hand what would it be? How does that help to guide your design decisions?
  9. Mr. Vokey,
First of all I love your wedges and own several of them from 50° to 60° in 2° increments. My question is how would different grinds help me in my game? I'm an 8-9 handicap now but have been as low as a 2, yet I've never had a wedge with a grind that was different than whatever is normal off the rack in the pro shop. Just wondering if a different grind would help me on certain lofts?? Thank you
  10. Mr. Vokey
Could you please explain why it is important for an avid golfer to be “fitted” for a wedge system instead of just walking into a store and buying wedges off the rack? Thank you for your time!

I think this is the most important part of buying new wedges. Find a fitter you trust, and spend time learning which loft, bounce and grind is right for your swing. It starts with loft, and proper distance gaps. I prefer 4°-6° of loft between wedges, which works out to about 10-15 yards. Then, I like to try all the shots around the green. The reason that wedge fitting is so important is that the sole grind of the club is what gives a wedge forgiveness.

A grind that matches your swing type will not only help you hit your best shots more often, but really help you in the areas where you struggle. The best part is that we have fitters all over the country, and I’ve worked with most of them. www.titleist.com/.../thursdays

The fun part about the wedge fitting is that the wedge will choose you. Through the process you’ll hit the grind that’s best fit to you, and you’ll just know.
  12. Mr. Vokey,
First off, hope all is well. Now, what exactly got you in to club building? Was it your love for the game, or the determination to attempt to build the best performing wedges in the game today?

We all hear about grinds, but my question is, how important is the grind to the armature player?

I love the K grind, but really have no idea about the other grinds and how they would fit in my swing.
  14. Hey Bob,

What improvements will we see in the SM8 and should we get fitted for the SM8 if we already got fitted for the SM7 recently it will the bounce set up remain about the same? Thank you so much for all you have done for us!!

    Best,

When purchasing an iron set, do you recommend purchasing the pitching wedge or an SM8 with correct loft gapping...Thanks, Guy

    Mr. Vokey,
How can I determine which bounce I need for my personal wedges? I know it is about divots vs. no divots on my swings, it what is the most effective way to figure this out. Larry R.

    Mr. Vokey,

What do you think is the next evolution of wedges as it appears face and groove advancements are at the conformity limit and CG seems to have reached similar boundaries. I’lol be getting fit for wedges in the next couple of weeks as I’d been holding off until I could swing the SM8s.

    Thanks,

  18. Should I look at different bounce or sole grinds. We spend half the year in Florida, where the sand feels like sugar and the other in Denver where it's more like dirt?

What are new features that would want me to upgrade to SM 8
  20. my bag has 48* beryllium png; Hogan equalizer; SM4 52* & 60* wedges.
My all time favorite is the 52* :)
it helps me more than the other 3 combined.
yes, the sweet spot shows signs of wear - but I consider that a badge of honor !
    I'm a 19 index, play once a week.

My strength is not how much spin I can generate, but my trajectory imagination for pitches and chips, that I rely on, combined with reading greens to calculate release and rollout.

Obviously my index reflects my inability to hit greens in regulation. Scrambling in how I make majority of pars. I love the phrase: "just a chip & putt".
My playing partners keep asking, "how did you do that?"

I admit to not being the best putter; but I know my chances of sinking a 4-6 ft putt to save par, is way better than my partners from 10-12 ft.
    And I thank my 52 everytime :)

  21. I have a question regarding GRINDS -

The course I play has very soft green side bunker sides, but the bottoms have little sand and it gets quite compacted. I try different bounces and grinds for the bottom versus the sides with spotty success. Any suggestions?
